Annoying, but a fact of weblife!

I’m afraid quite a few links to Google+, Picasaweb and Everytrail in older posts may not be live anymore. I will over time update and refresh the links with Content from material hosted on this site.

A lesson learnt – don’t use external sites to host content. It might seem a good idea at the time, but if they cease to offer a service, so does the link to the content hosted on them!

  • Detail at the Cathedral January 27, 2023
This proved to be an exceptional challenge … in the end, as I was forced to address some oversights in my camera settings and the way I imported my shots into Lightroom. I’ve written about this elsewhere, so won’t repeat the lessons learnt. Suffice to say I’ve learnt a lot more about colour and white […]
  • ICM, macro and lensball December 18, 2022
To finish off the year a miscellany of images taken as challenges set by the Cardiff u3a Practical Photography group. I hope you like them. Happy New Year – 2023 that is! [Psst: ICM stands for Intentional Camera Movement]
  • People watching at Porthcawl December 11, 2022
I needed to get out! It looked as though there might be a nice sunset and we like the Fish and Chips at Beales in Porthcawl. A plan was hatched. I would go ahead and do a bit of scouting – after having got the best location for the sunset (I thought) from The Photographer’s […]

  • Browsers and Search Engines – 2022 November 20, 2022
It’s always worth reviewing which search engine you should use, as it is the browser of choice to “surf the web”. The reasons you might wish to consider which search engine you might wish to use are greater privacy, enhanced security, minimise adverts being displayed, or to get more meaningful pages being displayed, but first […]
  • Stolen phone & SIM locking November 20, 2022
A rather disturbing incident involving a stolen phone and credit cards and the ability of a fraudster/thief being able to reset a user’s password/pass-number for a high-street bank occurred in September involving a journalist called Charlotte Morgan. She described what happened to her (and it transpired others) when her phone and credit cards were stolen […]
  • Switch-off of analogue PSTN February 4, 2022
This article will record the progress of the planned switch-off of the analogue PSTN (public switched telephone network) by 2025, and its implications to all of our generation, as Openreach moves to implement a fully digital service. The issue was brought to the attention of the Cardiff u3a Computer Group by Jenny Sims, a group […]
